Romayor is a famous series of sheetfed offset printing machines, which was produced by the Czech company Adast for more than 30 years without significant changes. These presses were popular in Eastern Europe among small and medium-sized printers due to their reliability, ease of operation and affordable price.
A print shop owner is first and foremost an investor. He understands the product he is producing and knows what his product should look like. It is his job to compare different presses in terms of their capabilities and make a decision on a particular piece.
"There are two fools in the market - the seller and... the buyer". The meaning of the expression is not at all to offend anyone. When conducting a transaction, the seller seeks to embellish his goods in order to sell them for a higher price, while the buyer always tries to bring down the price in order to buy them back more favourably...
A control scale is a set of control elements (fields, test objects) on a print that allows to evaluate its quality. In doing so, both individual defects arising from certain defects in the printing process and their overall effect are controlled.
This is me, Sergey Voropay, in a Heidelberg demo hall in Moscow on 25 of June, 1998. Exactly 26 years ago. I'm already working for Heidelberg, but still here for another session at the University of Printing.
I started to study printing in 1989, and had time to catch up with letterpress printing with its linotypes and flatbed printing machines with manual overlays. I studied at Minsk Vocational School No. 32 on Vera Khoruzhaya Street. 7 in Minsk. In those times there was no talk about any adequate quality control of the impression at all.
