Extended equipment inspection takes much more time to objectively check the condition of the sheetfed printing press system. This inspection is recommended for printers with high demands on their products, such as packaging, labelling, 4+4 colour books with perfecting and high speeds.
The machine is checked during the printing of normal printing operations, stopping for a period of time to check the condition of cylinders, gears or other mechanisms that require it. Then we bring the machine to a standardised state (new offset blankets and underlay sheets are installed, printing pressure and web clamping force are set) and print at 2/3 of the maximum speed. we do not pay attention to optical density, technological defects. We are interested in the condition of the sheet transfer system.
Description
This package of inspection service is designed to be as convenient as possible for remote potential equipment buyers. The cost of flying from Southeast Asia or South America may be comparable to the cost of our testing the press.
The customer is able to connect to the operator conducting the test via WhatsApp and pass on their recommendations.
The operator checks the condition of the equipment on more than 150 points, enters all data into a checklist, takes photos and videos of the condition of the main units responsible for printing. Upon return within 2-3 days, the test customer receives all the data on the condition of the machine, as well as our certificate.
In particular, we check that the machine is complete to factory specification. For example, if the machine is water-cooled, we check whether a chiller and water pump will be supplied with it. We check the functionality of the plate changing and impression quality control systems – densitometric or spectrophotometric devices. Software licences and dryer lamp life are issued. We check the working capacity and condition of the feeder, delivery, braking mechanisms, pay attention to how the machine is serviced, its general external condition.
Besides, we print a kiss-print test to check the cylinder surface (if the machine is connected) and assessing its condition based on the work currently being printed on the machine. Upon agreement with the customer and the print shop, a CMYK scale can be printed as well to monitor the technological parameters of the machine.
An important distinction of this test is the testing of the printing machine on the basis of our proprietary tests described in the section “Our Process”. This process takes MUCH MORE TIME because it is important to identify hidden machine defects in the perfecting unit, sheet feeder, cylinder bearings, etc. It may significantly affect the customer’s future operations. The causes of such problems on the machine under test may be due to various factors – general wear and tear, working on rough materials, unskilled assembly / dismantling, poor repair after an accident, poor maintenance. In particular, the Karo test shows how a printing machine behaves when running at 2/3 of the maximum speed.
We can judge from the results of the test about future investments in repair, which can be measured in tens or even hundreds of thousands of euros!
On this picture you can see how does look the control element we use to control the condition of perfecting device.
If you require high repeatability of orders, plan to work with labelling or packaging, lenticulars, IML, using double-sided printing – don’t skimp and order this test. We have specially designed scales for testing equipment that are not readily available and would be difficult to decipher by the average non-factory qualified printer.
The certificate contains the test registration number, the serial number of the printing machine and the date of the inspection. The place of inspection and the name of the printing press are not included in the certificate. In this way, the customer can send the machine condition certificate to his potential customer without fear of disclosing commercial information.
The certificate contains the test registration number, the serial number of the printing machine and the date of inspection. The place of inspection, the name of the print shop is not included in the certificate. Thus the customer can send the machine condition certificate to his potential customer without worrying about disclosure of any commercial information.
By specifying the test registration number, the customer can clarify the identity of the test using our contact form. The confidentiality of the information is protected.
For the customer’s convenience, the TOTAL cost of testing a printing press in the European Union, Switzerland and the UK has been determined. It includes the cost of inspection, flight/travel and accommodation. The cost is stated without VAT (reverse charge procedure). Thus, VAT is not payable in any country other than Poland.
The inspection period for one machine in one location is up to 2 working days, plus one day each for the operator’s arrival and return home.
The higher cost is due to the involvement of two employees and the need to transcribe the tests using specialised equipment.
Materials – ink, paper, moisturising solution – are provided by the owner of the printing press, or paid for by the inspection customer on the basis of a separate invoice as agreed.
