Pressinspection began with independent inspections of used printing equipment around the world — and it was only after traveling the globe that we realized why printing companies have long needed a unified, modern market for services and solutions.
We travel a lot — and there’s nothing romantic about it: the printing machines we needed to check could be anywhere. And every trip started the same way — with a search for a decent hotel. In theory, you can open the websites of three or four local hotels, scroll through them and compare their terms and conditions. In practice, by the fourth one you’ll be yawning, and you won’t even open the fifth. That’s how human attention works: you see the top of the results, not the entire market.
For you, this means choosing a hotel from the top few in the search, not from the best ones. For many hotels that don’t make it into your search, this means remaining invisible, even if they are really good. That’s why the whole world uses Booking.com or Airbnb: everything is in one place, with the necessary filters, reviews, ratings and clear rules. And the service provider also benefits — they can present their ad in a way that convinces you.
Searching for a hotel is a typical example of how you shouldn’t voluntarily deprive yourself of the right to choose.
It’s the same in print — only the stakes are higher. Yes, there are online resources for purchasing equipment — pressxchange, roepa.com, pressdepo. But they rarely solve the main problem of accessing specialists when you need to quickly solve a real problem rather than ‘browse through ads’. For example, when the owner of a Heidelberg XL106 urgently needs to repair a damaged cylinder, or when a printing house buys a KBA Rapida 106 and is looking for a team to commission it, preferably without paying for expensive branded service.
The owner of a digital or offset printing house, the author of thematic articles, a stamp manufacturing company — they all know their craft well. But one work skill is not enough: to be found, you need contacts, email, time and sometimes even participation in exhibitions such as Labelexpo or DRUPA. The industry has lived by these rules for many years — and the search for service providers was carried out ‘through phone calls’ — and even now, many are losing money precisely because of this closed cycle.
Service consumers are just as limited by their social circle as sellers. That is why Pressinspection considers it its mission to expand your circle and replace random recommendations with transparent choices: through profiles, reviews, ratings, geography, and secure payments.
Printing houses are confined to their own space. Business owners need to stay up to date with events and be able to solve unexpected problems. For example, where can you quickly find an illustrator for a new book? Where can you find a packaging designer who works in ArtiosCAD? You don’t want every project to be done by the same person and in the same style, do you?
I know some excellent packaging and label designers, box design specialists — they work as freelancers or through small studios. Their problem is not the quality of their work, but access to the market and guaranteed payment for their work. That’s why the same question is asked in every country and in every language: ‘Can you recommend someone?’ — and then a chain of coincidences begins, where the deciding factor is not competence, but a contact in your phone.
It’s time to change the existing order of things. From now on, the choice of a specialist will be determined not by ‘acquaintance’ but on the basis of facts: their portfolio, specialisation, reviews, rating, and real experience.
‘Your friend’ who recommends someone may be wrong, but reviews from real buyers are unlikely to mislead you. In addition, your choice will be much easier if you have the opportunity to review a specific person’s portfolio and understand whether their style suits you. Order services and leave reviews. Our platform does not allow fake reviews without real purchases.
This is important even for the most mundane, typical tasks. A well-known case: a small Polish company, having received a request to find a solution due to the rapid failure of the original AMS LED dryer chips, developed its own design — more reliable and cheaper than the original. If you live in another region, you probably won’t even know that a solution to the problem already exists. The same goes for service: your friend may give you the contact details of a mechanic for Manroland R700 — but until you call him, you won’t see his actual level of expertise and won’t know how suitable he is for your specific job. When replacing rollers, the process is repeated: should you buy new products from Boettcher or send the old rollers for refurbishment? The second option is certainly cheaper, but how can you check the contractor’s competence without weeks of messaging and stress?
There is also a financial risk: when the team dismantling the Heidelberg CD102-6+L did not drain the oil completely, and during loading it spilled onto the pavement of someone’s private property. The owner paid for the asphalt to be cleaned and sent you the bill — leaving you out of pocket. Or another scenario: when a mechanic comes to repair a Rapida 105 and gets paid a month or two after daily reminders.
We offer a simple solution: place your offer through Pressinspection — and work according to clear, understandable rules.
Pressinspection.com is not ‘just another website’. We believe that we are launching an important industry tool that will help talented people sell their skills around the world and help printing companies quickly find proven specialists when they really need them.
Now anyone can choose a contractor based on ratings and reviews — and immediately determine the geography of the service: the lists of services and goods will include a checkbox for the country you need. This will save you the most important thing — time, at a moment when you needed a solution ‘yesterday.’ Perhaps you need a mechanic for a Heidelberg CD 102 in one region, a technologist for a specific operation in another, and a master for hot foil stamping in a third.
At the same time, the talent market is quite complex: there is a shortage of good specialists, and keeping someone on the payroll ‘just in case’ is expensive and often pointless. It is much more effective to assign one-off tasks to those who perform them every day. Now you can hire a packaging designer from Poland and a web designer from India — highly qualified specialists on a reasonable budget. Consult with a recognised European expert on equipment selection. Consult a production technologist who actually works with your specific type of product — without spending a long time searching for ‘a friend’s recommendation’.
There is nothing stopping large flagship companies such as Bobst, Heidelberg and Koenig & Bauer from making their services available to all users in the region on our service, even for comparison purposes. Some buyers may be surprised to learn that a service they have ignored for years may be cheaper if ordered directly from the manufacturer rather than from a former employee.
The platform is useful not only for services, but also for selling off the ‘hidden stock’ in every printing house. Over the years, many companies accumulate peripheral equipment: compressors, used and new spare parts. It’s a shame to throw them away, but there’s no one to sell them to. In practice, this is money frozen on the shelf — and placing an ad for their sale on Pressinspection can solve your problem with storing unnecessary items. There is also a whole segment of repairs that you don’t order every day: dry ice cleaning, electroplating of cylinders, or restoration of shafts and chrome-plated surfaces. These jobs are sought after when something breaks down suddenly — and that’s when it’s hardest to quickly find someone who can do it well.
Our marketplace’s ‘funnel’ supports both scenarios: when a mechanic travels to the site, or when spare parts are sent to the factory for restoration. To protect both parties, we use a secure payment model: funds are reserved through the platform and released only after the service is completed or delivery is confirmed.
This gives you a new tool for your work. Pressinspection breaks down regional boundaries and opens up new opportunities for people who can really do the job — from mechanics and electronics specialists to freelancers, marketers, and highly skilled manufacturing professionals.
